Washington DC: In a major development in Gaza war, United States President Doland Trump on Friday (local time) announced that a deal to end the Gaza war and free the hostages is “very close.” While addressing media at the White House, Before going to New York to attend the Ryder Cup golf tournament, he stated, “It’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza. I think it’s a deal that will get the hostages back. It’s gonna be a deal that will end the war.”
Earlier this week, the US President revealed a 21-point initiative to end the ongoing Gaza war during a crucial meeting with Arab leaders. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

United States special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff summarised America’s plan for Gaza, stating that President Trump emphasised his wish to swiftly end the conflict in Gaza Strip. Trump also underscored his desire to the return of all hostages, no further attacks on Qatar, a new dialogue between Israel and Palestinians for peaceful coexistence, the White House official told Fox News Digital.
“Foreign partners expressed broad agreement that President Trump was the only one who could end the fighting in Gaza and expressed the hope that they could work together with Special Envoy Witkoff to consider the President’s plan as Americans continue to engage with Israeli officials,” the official added.
Middle Eastern country Qatar is likely to present the plan to Hamas leaders, The Jerusalem Post reported citing two sources familiar with the developments.
For the first time in some time, there is a sense of optimism and agreement among European and Arab diplomats regarding Trump’s proposed strategy.
“This is a good plan. These are the steps that we have been saying for two years could bring an end to the war,” one diplomat said.
Meanwhile, Israel has already been informed about the decisions, and it is currently in talks with US government, pressing that it will not permit Palestinian Authority to take an active role in governing Gaza.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu delivered his speech on the fourth day of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The speech came as General Debate resumed in New York, with protests expressing solidarity with Palestine outside UN headquarters.
As soon as Netanyahu started his speech, several delegates walked out in protest. He started his address by saying “the families of our dear hostages languishing in the dungeons of Gaza.”
The Israeli PM’s visit to New York drew protests in support of Palestine. Alongside him, leaders of Pakistan, China, Ireland and Greece.
