‘Jihad will be carried out wherever there is…’: Maulana Mahmood Madani’s provocative statement, says Supreme Court responsible for…

New Delhi: Maulana Mahmood Madani, head of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, objected to the questions being raised about the word “Jihad” at an event in Bhopal. At the National Governing Body meeting of the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, he said that the enemies of Islam and Muslims have transformed sacred concepts like Jihad into words associated with misuse, disorder, and violence.

‘Whenever there is oppression, there will be Jihad’

Maulana Mahmood Madani said that the use of terms like “Love Jihad,” “Land Jihad,” “Education Jihad,” and “Spit Jihad” causes great pain to Muslims and insults their religion. He said that even people holding responsible positions in the government and media use such words. They have no shame, nor do they care about hurting the entire community. Maulana Madani said that whenever there is oppression, there will be jihad.

‘Negative campaign against religious madrasas’

Mahmood Madani said, “The current situation in the country is very sensitive and worrying. Sadly, a community is being legally weakened, socially isolated, and economically dispossessed. Efforts like mob lynching, bulldozer action, seizure of Waqf property, and negative campaigns against religious madrasas and reforms are being made to weaken their religion, identity, and existence.”

‘Muslims feeling insecure’

He said, “Today, Muslims feel insecure on the streets. They face hatred at every step. Now we must be prepared. Those who convert to a particular religion in the name of ‘ghar wapsi’ (homecoming) have free rein. No questions are raised against them, nor is any legal action taken. This is a complete double standard.”

Criticises the Supreme Court

Mahmood Madani also questioned the Supreme Court, as he said, “Creating law and order and a crime-free society in a country is impossible without justice. Sadly, in the last few years, especially after decisions in cases like the Babri Masjid and Triple Talaq, it has become a common perception that the courts are acting under government pressure. Many interpretations of constitutional rules and fundamental principles related to minorities have raised serious questions about the role of the judiciary. The Supreme Court is entitled to be called supreme only as long as it upholds the law and upholds the duty of law. If it does not do so, it is morally not entitled to be called supreme.”
