President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed frustration with Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, at cases even suggesting he should be eliminated from his submit.

Fed independence and the inflation mandate
The Fed operates below a dual mandate from Congress: to promote maximum employment and protect trace stability, on the total interpreted as 2% inflation.
