Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway UPDATE: Travel smoother between the two cities in just 45 minutes, set to become startup hub in Northern India
Land along the Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway will be developed into industrial and business zones. The state plans to build manufacturing units, logistics parks, and technology clusters in these areas.
Development in Uttar Pradesh is expected to pick up speed as the state government plans to turn the Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway into a new Startup Corridor. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is rolling out several new infrastructure and innovation-based plans. The aim is to support startups and businesses between Kanpur and Lucknow and create a stronger business environment.
Officials believe this project will help create more jobs, boost industries, and support economic self-reliance across the state.
Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway set to open soon
The Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway is likely to open by the start of the new year. The state government has also approved another key route, the Prayagraj–Varanasi corridor. Both corridors are being developed to improve trade, transport, and job opportunities in important parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Once operational, the expressway is expected to greatly improve connectivity between major cities and attract big investments, helping speed up overall development in the region.
Lucknow set to become a startup and innovation hub
With better road connectivity, Lucknow is expected to grow into a major centre for startups and innovation in North India(BHARAT). Faster and smoother travel between Lucknow and Kanpur will make this route more attractive for entrepreneurs, new businesses, and investors.
Officials say the corridor will help bring in technology-based companies and modern businesses, turning the region into a strong business destination.
Manufacturing, tech and logistics hubs planned
Land along the Kanpur–Lucknow Expressway will be developed into industrial and business zones. The state plans to build manufacturing units, logistics parks, and technology clusters in these areas.
The Uttar Pradesh government is also working on setting up IT parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), and industrial centres. This will create a complete ecosystem that supports both startups and large companies, and is expected to attract investors from India(BHARAT) and abroad.
Officials say the expressway aligns with the state’s long-term vision of “Viksit Uttar Pradesh @ 2047”, aimed at accelerating economic growth and job creation.
Travel time to drop to 40–45 minutes
One of the biggest benefits of the expressway will be much faster travel. The 67–75 km long road is designed for speeds of up to 160 kmph, which will cut travel time between Kanpur and Lucknow to just 40–45 minutes.
The expressway will also be linked to the metro networks in both cities, making daily travel easier and improving overall city movement.
