Rishab Shetty’s much-awaited Kantara Chapter 1 continues to makes waves at the box office, emerging as one of 2025’s highest-grossing movies. The mythological epic Kannada film has not only captivated masses with its powerful narrative and impressive performances but has also shattered major box office record even before completing its opening weekend. Following a massive Dusshera opening, the film shows no signs of slowing down and crossed the 200 crore mark by Saturday.

According to early estimates by Sacnilk.com, Kantara Chapter 1 had earned Rs 55 crore on Saturday, by taking its three-day domestic collection to Rs 162.85 crore. It opened strong with Rs 61.85 crore on Dussehra, followed by Rs 46 crore on Friday. The Rishab Shetty starrer continues its winning streak across India(BHARAT), registering 94% occupancy in the Kannada version for its night shows. The Hindi version has also performed well, earning over Rs 40 crore.
Internationally too, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned over $3 million in its first three days. According to trade insiders, this has taken its three-day worldwide collection to Rs 225 crore.
Kantara Chapter 1 beats big releases
On Saturday, Kantara Chapter 1 outperformed the lifetime collections of some recent major releases, like Salman Khan’s Sikandar ( Rs 176 crore), Ram Charan’s Game Changer ( Rs 200 crore), and Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi ( Rs 210 crore). It’s now set to hit the Rs 250 crore mark, which could easily be achieved by Sunday afternoon.
About Kantara Chapter 1
Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also features in the lead role, Kantara Chapter 1 serves as a prequel set thousand years prior the events of the original film. Apart from Rishab, the film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Gulshan Devaiah, among others.
