Undoubtedly, Kapoor family is considered one of the most influential and renowned film families in India(BHARAT)n cinema’s history. The clan, which started with Prithviraj Kapoor, extended further with countless stars in name, who have starred in some memorable amount of films and earned name in the industry. But not every member of this Bollywood family could reach to the heights of stardom. One particular actor was degraded to side roles for almost his entire career.

Who was Ravindra Kapoor?

Born in Punjab, Ravindra Kapoor was first cousin of Prithviraj Kapoor and the brother of popular character artist Kamal Kapoor. He followed the footsteps of his cousin, brother and nephews, and started his career with supporting roles in films like Thokar and Paisa. After not getting much work in Hindi films, he ventured into Punjabi cinema. He appeared in major successful Punjabi films like Shokan Mele Di and Pind De Kuri

He continued doing side roles in Hindi films as well, including Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke and Yaadon Ki Baraat. His most memorable appearance was as Jeetendra’s friend in the 1971 hit Caravan.

Kapoor Family’s ‘most unsuccessful’ actor

By 1980s, Ravindra Kapoor was delegated to work as a supporting actor in big films such as Manzil Manzil, The Burning Train, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He even starred in uncredited appearances in films opposite superstars like Jeetendra, Dharmendra and others.

Ravindra Kapoor is the only actor who has never starred in any RK films, Raj Kapoor’s production company. Neither him, nor any member of his family revealed the reason behind it. He quietly distanced himself from cinema in the late 1980s, a couple of years before his demise.

His last on-screen appearances were in two Aamir Khan films- Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar.
