Kerala Water Cut: Some areas of Kerala will face 14 hours water supply disruption on Tuesday resulting from ongoing work associated with the Smart City project. The water supply will remain disrupted from 10 AM till middle of the night. In accordance with the press liberate issued by Kerala Water Authority (KWA) on Thursday, the water supply will likely be disrupted in a couple of parts of the city resulting from ongoing work on the Smart City project on September 24 from 10 am to 12 am at night.

The Smart City project involves the installation of new pipelines and the connection of old branch lines so that they will improve the water supply system.

Areas affected by water supply cut

This disruption will affect areas like- Vazhuthacaud, Udarasirmani Road, Palottukonam, CSM Nagar, Sishu Vihar Lane, Cotton Hill, Edapazhanji, K Anirudhan Road, Irakkam Road, Mettukada, Valiyashala and Thycaud.

Issues Faced by local residents

In accordance with TOI reports, many residents of the city complaints of facing water supply disruption at some stage in the areas like Malayinkeezhu Junction, Palottuvila, Idavailakam, Panavilakam, Kuriyode, Aruvippara and a couple of parts of Nemom resulting from unknown reason. A resident complained “PWD took an estimate to cut the road here for maintenance works. They assure that they speed up work, alternatively, we are struggling as there is not any such thing as a longer any water even for cooking and for other basic needs.”

While the Chief engineer of KWA, Narayanan Manboothiri, promised to clear the problems faced by the local residents. He said,” We don’t desire to cause inconvenience to the majority as we are working on war- footing to clear the problems. The issue has been solved at near to all places. Public can raise complaints on the water authority place of business.”

Earlier on this month, the residents across 45 wards of Thiruvananthapuram faced severe water shortage resulting from essential repairing of the pipeline resulting from which the KWA cut off water supply across the city. After which, Municipal authorities promised to revive the water supply by September Eight, but repair efforts faced unforeseen delays resulting from which the restoration work used to be delayed for four consecutive days. Many public and personal establishments were severely impacted by the lack.
