The popular 1970s and 1980s band will perform one of its biggest albums in its entirety in each show of its Las Vegas Strip residency.

Las Vegas Strip casino theaters are filled with popular singers and bands that packed arenas and outdoor stadiums back in the 1970s and 1980s.

Some of those acts can still sell out major arenas and sports stadiums today.

A threesome of 1980s hard rock bands consisting of Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, sold out stadiums as recently as 2022 after needing to cancel shows in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Today, Mötley Crüe is currently finishing its first Las Vegas Strip residency in 12 years with four remaining shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas on Sept. 26, 27, Oct. 1, and 3.

Def Leppard returns for another residency

Hard rock band Def Leppard, returns to the Las Vegas Strip for its third residency with 12 shows in their Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Feb. 3-28, 2026.

A third act on that 2022 stadium tour, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts closed its first-ever residency at the House of Blues at MGM Resorts International's Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Las Vegas on June 21, 2025.

Styx returns to the Venetian for residency

And now, sensational rock band Styx , which also performed many outdoor stadium shows, returns to the Las Vegas Strip for five shows at its latest engagement, "The Las Vegas Residency," on Jan. 23, 24, 28, 30, and 31, 2026, at the Venetian Theater at the Venetian Las Vegas

The "Come Sail Away" singers most recently played a residency on the Strip earlier this year at the Venetian Theater for six shows in January and February 2025.

Styx Las Vegas Strip residencies:

  • The Las Vegas Residency, Jan. 23, 24, 28, 30, and 31, 2026.
  • January and February 2025.
  • January and February 2024.
  • January and February 2023.
  • January and February 2022.
  • September 2021.
  • January and February 2018.
  • January 2017.

The band likes to play the Venetian in January and February and has booked five-show residencies in those months in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2018, and also in January 2017.

The band played single shows off the Strip at The Palms in January 2019 and 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic and returned to the Venetian for two shows in Sept. 25-26, 2021.

Styx plays 'Pieces of Eight' in its entirety

Styx fans might want to buy their tickets right away for the 2026 shows as the band will play its "Pieces of Eight" album in its entirety in each night, including their huge hits from the album, "Blue Collar Man" and "Renegade."

The band will also perform its other fan-favorite hits during the residency shows.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. Pacific time at Ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices range from $113 in the balcony to about $1,027 in the front row, at last check.

Sammy Hagar returns for Strip residency

Another major arena performer, Red Rocker Sammy Hagar, has become a regular residency performer on the Strip. Hagar performed his sold-out The Best of All Worlds Las Vegas Residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM from April 30 to May 17, 2025.

Hagar has extended his residency as he returns with his high-energy band for two sets of concerts on March 11, 13, 14, 18, 20, and 21, 2026, and Sept. 18, 19, 23, 25, and 26, 2026, at Dolby Live.

The band's current lineup includes former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, "Surfing With The Alien" guitarist Joe Satriani, former John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff, and Rai Thistlethwayte on keyboard.
