American healthcare companies enjoy battled financial injure over the final year with several companies closing areas, promoting off services and products, and in some cases filing for financial catastrophe to reorganize their companies and restructure debt.
In 2024, 5 sanatorium operators filed for financial catastrophe after 12 companies filed petitions in 2023. Non-public sanatorium operator, Steward Health Care, which operated 31 hospitals in eight states, filed for financial catastrophe in May 2024 to promote its assets and cut $9 billion in debt.
