Manisha Koirala Says She Was ‘Apprehensive’ Doing Lovemaking Scenes on Set Due to Past Bad Experiences
In an interview, Heeramandi fame Manisha Koirala revealed that she did not had good experience in past when it comes to doing intimate scenes.
Manisha Koirala gave a powerpack performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. While most of her scenes were intense and portrayed her as the ultimate queen, there was a scene where Manisha as Mallika Jaan was at her most vulnerable stage in order to save her daughter Alamzeb from the British police officer Cartwright. However, Manisha as an actor has had reservations about on-screen intimacy in the past.
During an interview with Masala, Manisha revealed that she was a lot anxious while doing an intimate scene with Jaideep Ahlawat in Dibakar Banerjee’s short in the 2018 Netflix India anthology Lust Stories. “I had my reservations about the love-making scenes. I very frankly told Dibakar that I’ve had some bad experiences with on-screen intimacy in the past. I thought he would not be able to get around that problem,” Manisha said.
Later, the actor mentioned the director and credited him for being accommodating and also for being receptive and sensitive. “I was deeply impressed by Dibakar’s open-minded, responsive attitude. He listens to everyone, not just actors but also the crew,” she added.
Earlier, during an interview with The Hindu, Manisha asked the director that he should go with a ‘bold‘ actor for the role. “I had seen and loved his short in Bombay Talkies. I knew he would make something sensible. At every step [Banerjee] was careful. He has been sensitive and respectful,” Manisha had said.
Lust Stories was released on June 15, 2018. The show was premiered on OTT giant Netflix. The show received mixed reviews from the audience. Meanwhile, Dibakar Banerjee recently released his new directorial, LSD 2: Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2.
Intimate Scenes in Heeramandi
Manisha has a couple of intimate scenes in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s show. While the first scene was with Shekhar Suman inside a carriage, another was the abuse scene with co-star Jason Shah. Manisha said that Shah was very ‘careful‘ about the scene.
