Aswathy V Nair, a certified dancer, made up our minds to tap her way into film making. All our firsts are and meant to be special and so became Aswathy’s debut. Her first film ‘Vilpana’ a story in Zee5 Global’s ‘Manorathangal’, as a director, is based one within the complete short stories written by her father MT Vasudevan Nair. In an exclusive conversation with India.com, Aswathy talked about her experience as a debutant, her take on characters like Kabir Singh, her fan girl moment with Kamal Haasan and more.

Directors have a vision in regards to the portrayal of their characters. We asked Nair if she would ever be willing to direct characters like ‘Animal’ or a ‘Kabir Singh’, as a female director. To this Nair said, “Individually I wouldn’t. I mean I may prefer to I suspect there might be an underlying lead to of that, one being a lady, there might be definitely that. Two, I've got been raised in a family where women are given quite quite tons of space to make their own decision and walk their paths, both my parents. I've got grown up seeing that, grown up in that kind of atmosphere. So, it might well maybe be very tough for me to visualize something else.”

Nair further explained the arch of Gita Paresh (Madhoo), the key character in her debut directorial ‘Vilpana’, of how she battled the total lot in her own right, along with her own assertions. “If given a call, I may prefer to indicate my female characters as somebody who have a mind of their own,” she added further.

Aswathy V Nair Recalls Her Fan Girl Moment With Kamal Haasan

In a series with ace directors and star studded cast, the anecdotes are endless. Reminiscing her days right through shoot, Aswathy happily talked about her exhilarating experience and the way a healthy and playful competition became there amongst all directors over whose story came out better. With a smile on her face, Nair recalled her fan girl moment when she met veteran actor Kamal Haasan for the first time. Nair had written the lines of Haasan as a narrator. Hence, she became which is named on set right through his shoot and he or she said, “I used to be once there and he walks in and I used to be once speechless. He came and greeted and I stood there staring at him. That became fangirl moment for me. I will never omit that. (giggles)”

‘Manorathangal’ is an anthology of 9 short stories by MT Vasudevan Nair. The star studded cast speaks of  Kamal Haasan as the key narrator who weaves and connects the stories together. Mohan Lal, Mammootty, Fahadh Fasil, Asif Ali, Durga Krishna, Parvathy Thiruvothu are few names among others featuring within the Zee5 Global’s series.
