Marriott drops special promotions for loyal members

Marriott had an exciting year in 2025, as its luxury offering once again proved the hotel giant's main profit driver. The chain recently reported a 2025 full-year net income of $2.6 billion, which compares to $2.38 billion in 2024.

Full-year revenue per available room (RevPAR) increased 2% year over year, and its global development pipeline reached a new record, totaling approximately 4,100 properties and nearly 610,000 rooms, according to Marriott’s earnings report.

While its adjusted earnings per share were $2.58, lower than the average analyst estimate of $2.62 compiled by Bloomberg, its loyalty program again played an important role in occupancy.

In 2025, Marriott Bonvoy added about 43 million new members, bringing its total to 271 million at year's end. Moreover, member stays accounted for 75% of room nights in the U.S. and Canada, and 68% globally.

“Marriott delivered excellent results in 2025, reflecting the strength of our brands, delivery of great experiences to our customers and continued momentum in development activity. For the full year, net rooms grew over 4.3 percent, worldwide RevPAR increased 2 percent, and our fee-driven, asset-light business model continued to generate substantial cash, enabling over $4.0 billion of capital returns to shareholders,” stated CEO Anthony Capuano.

Every year Marriott advances its loyalty program to provide new benefits to its current members and to attract new ones.

Marriott’s recent deals and promotions

Over the last few months, the luxury chain giant surprised its loyal members with several new deals and promotions.

  • Official "soft landing": Marriott formalized a policy where elite members who don't meet the requirements to keep their current status only drop down by one tier (e.g., Platinum to Gold) instead of falling back to the lowest level.
  • Cyber week sale: A major promotion launched in December gave loyalty members a 25% discount on stays at thousands of hotels worldwide, provided the booking was made through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
  • Chase "5 free night" offer: A record-breaking sign-up bonus for the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card from JPMorgan Chase gave new users five free nights (worth up to 50k points each) after they spent $3,000 in three months.
  • Updated elite night rules: For limited-service brands such as City Express and Protea, members now earn 0.5 elite night credits for every night stayed. This replaces the old rule where a single-night stay earned zero credit.

In the latest development, Marriott just rolled out another special promotion for 2026.

Marriott Bonvoy launches its first global promotion for 2026

Marriott Bonvoy has just launched registration for a new global promotion, its first of the year. These first-quarter promotions are usually the “most generous of the year,” writes Ben Schlappig for One Mile at a Time.

Loyal members who register through April 26 can earn 2,500 bonus points on each stay from February 25 through May, plus one bonus Elite Night Credit for each new brand they try. The collected points can be redeemed for a free night and higher Elite status.

Marriott Bonvoy promotion key highlights:

  • 2,500 bonus points: You get 2,500 extra points for every "stay." A stay is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of how many times you check in and out.
  • Bonus elite night credits: You earn one extra elite night credit for every different Marriott hotel brand you stay at during the promotion.
  • Promotion period: The deal is valid for stays between February 25 and May 10, 2026.
  • Registration deadline: You must sign up for the promotion by April 26, 2026, and you must register before your first stay for it to count.
  • Paid stays only: To earn these bonuses, you must pay for your room with cash. Stays booked entirely with points (Award Nights) or a mix of cash and points do not qualify.
  • Stay length: There is no minimum stay requirement; even a one-night stay will trigger the 2,500-point bonus.
  • Elite credit limit: You only get the bonus night credit once per brand. Staying at five different Courtyard hotels will still only net you one bonus night credit, but staying at one Courtyard and one Moxy would allow you to earn two.

Why members shouldn’t miss Marriott’s latest offer

Marriott’s latest promotion, among other goals, aims to motivate members to try various brands under Marriott’s umbrella. Its powerful portfolio features more than 30 leading brands, including Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, JW Marriott, Sheraton, Westin, W Hotels, Courtyard, and Residence Inn.

With this offer, the hotel chain highlights what it does best, rewarding loyal members and promoting its other brands to expand its outreach. Although each reward counts, Schlappig views the 2,500 bonus points as a decent gain worth about $17.50, which makes it far more rewarding for cheap, one-night stays than for expensive, long-term luxury stays.

Regarding the elite night structure, he points out that the offer is not “quite as lucrative” as the previous year's, when Marriott offered one bonus elite night per night, regardless of the brand.

While Marriott's new promotions might not reach the level of previous deals, they are still worth grabbing.
