‘May our democracies…’: PM Modi thanks Donald Trump for Diwali wish amid tariff war
Donald Trump had called PM Modi on Diwali to which he thanked the US President.
US President Doland Trump participated in Diwali celebrations held at the White House on Tuesday. He also spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone. During the call, he wished PM Modi a happy Diwali and discussed trade-related issues. He described PM Modi as a “great man” and a “great friend.” Now, PM Modi has also thanked US President Trump for his phone call and Diwali wishes.

PM Modi posted on Twitter on Wednesday morning, sharing his conversation with Trump on the phone call. He said, “President Trump, thank you for your phone call and your warm Diwali wishes. On this festival of lights, may our two great democracies continue to be a beacon of hope to the world and remain united against terrorism in all its forms.”
Trump celebrated Diwali at the White House
Earlier, President Trump attended Diwali celebrations at the White House. He extended Diwali greetings and best wishes to everyone. Trump also lit a diya (lamp) with India(BHARAT)n-American members of his administration and members of other communities. During the event, he shared information about his phone call with Prime Minister Modi.

“I extend my heartfelt greetings to the people of India(BHARAT). I spoke with your Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) earlier today. We had a very good conversation. We talked about trade. We talked about a number of issues, but mostly about trade,” President Trump said in a statement on Tuesday.
