MCD bypoll result: Kejriwal makes BIG statement on AAP’s performance, says ‘in just 10 months…’
Arvind Kejriwal said the AAP had fielded "dedicated workers" in the MCD bypolls, and the verdict proves that public trust rapidly returning towards the party.
MCD bypoll result: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday hailed his party’s performance in MCD bypoll, asserting that the MCD bypoll result shows that the AAP is regaining public trust, just 10 months after it lost the Delhi Assembly elections earlier in the year.
What did Kejriwal say?
In a post on X, Kejriwal said the AAP had fielded “dedicated workers” in the MCD bypolls, and the verdict proves that public trust rapidly returning towards the party.
“In the MCD bypolls this time, the Aam Aadmi Party fielded its dedicated workers as candidates, and through its verdict, the people of Delhi have made it clear that public support in the city is steadily strengthening in favour of the AAP. In just 10 months, public trust is once again returning rapidly towards the Aam Aadmi Party,” the former Delhi Chief Minister wrote.
“Delhi is very soon returning to positive politics and good governance,” he added.
MCD bypoll results
Kejriwal’s comments came after AAP secured three seats in the MCD bypolls, the results of which were declared earlier in the day. The ruling BJP won seven of the nine wards it held earlier, while AAP lost Chandni Mahal and Chandni Chowk wards it held earlier, but won Mundka, Dakshinpuri and Naraina.
The Congress and All India(BHARAT) Forward Bloc won one each.
BJP ‘failed’ litmus test, claims AAP
Bypolls for 12 wards in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were being viewed as a litmus test for the BJP since it was the first big poll battle for the saffron party after coming to power in Delhi. The AAP, which was eyeing a third term in Delhi, had lost to the BJP in the Assembly elections held in February, and the MCD bypoll was its first chance to gain some ground after the loss.
Though the BJP won seven of 12 wards in the MCD bypoll, AAP declared that the ruling party has failed the litmus test and said it was losing ground in the national capital.
