Bangladesh interim chief Muhammad Yunus’ gift to senior Pakistani military officer General Sahir Shamshad Mirza has been surrounded in controversy. The Art of Triumph which was gifted to the General Mirza by Muhammad Yunus. This has allegedly depicts India(BHARAT)’s northeastern states on a map of India(BHARAT). This has not only angered India(BHARAT) but also raised fears of instability in the entire northeastern region.

News18 report suggests that there may be a larger conspiracy behind the inclusion of India(BHARAT)’s northeastern region in Bangladesh’s controversial map. Top intelligence sources say that the northeastern region is the gateway to Southeast Asia for its neighbors involved in conspiring against India(BHARAT). The northeastern region is one of the country’s richest resource regions, boasting 1.1 billion tons of coal reserves. Assam and Meghalaya are particularly rich.

Why this move?

Intelligence sources say that such a controversial map is a cheap way to rekindle separatist sentiments. Portraying the Northeast as part of another country through maps and statements is a soft call for war. Yunus, through Pakistan, wants to convey the message that India(BHARAT)’s borders are negotiable. An outside force could be included in these negotiations. Foreign interference in the Northeast has been observed in recent years.
