New Delhi: In a major development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has summoned the second senior-most diplomat of the India(BHARAT)n High Commission in Dhaka to register a strong protest with India(BHARAT). According to the reports, Bangladesh has expressed its objection over the recent interviews given by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Hasina has recently given a series of interviews to several media organizations, including India(BHARAT)n and other foreign outlets. Bangladesh has now demanded that India(BHARAT) immediately restrict Hasina’s access to the media.

As per Bangladesh’s state-run news agency BSS, citing a high-level unnamed diplomatic source, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned India(BHARAT)n Deputy High Commissioner Pawan Badhe and conveyed Bangladesh’s serious concern over the India(BHARAT)n government allowing the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to speak with mainstream India(BHARAT)n media.

However, there has been no official response from India(BHARAT)n authorities so far. Sources familiar with the matter said that the India(BHARAT)n side has made it clear that media in India(BHARAT) is independent and not controlled by the government. Interestingly, Hasina recently gave interviews to British and French media outlets as well, but the Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry did not summon the diplomats of those countries.
