Mukesh Ambani’s Jio rolls out free Google Gemini 3 pro offer to all unlimited 5G users

Reliance Jio is preparing to bring a massive AI access expansion for users, with a new offer that’s bound to pique interest. Starting November 19, 2025, Jio users with an unlimited 5G plan will receive 18 months free access to the Google Gemini 3-powered “Gemini Pro Plan,” valued at around ₹35,100 by the company.

Enabling AI access

Previously, Jio had offered this access only for younger user segments, but this refreshed offer opens up eligibility to all unlimited 5G customers, a move that signals the company’s push to democratise cutting-edge AI in India(BHARAT).

What’s on offer?

It is powered by Google’s latest reasoning model: Gemini 3, which marks a strategic pivot: instead of targeted trial offers, the goal is a mass-market AI experience.

The deal’s primary points:

  • Gemini Pro plan (₹35,100 value) is free for 18 months to eligible users.
  • It has Google’s new Gemini 3 model.
  • Eligibility is based on active unlimited 5G Jio SIM only.

Activation process should be as follows (via the MyJio app): User clicks on the “Claim Now” banner; user should see “Agree” to accept the terms; the user can now open the Gemini app to confirm that they have Pro access active.

Why it matters?

The launch reflects the competitive dynamic between telcos and AI tech providers: how can access to the latest AI models move out of developer demos and into the daily mass use cases that define AI’s value for consumers? By embedding access to a premium AI experience, Jio is staking a claim to become not just a mobile data provider, but a direct AI accelerant to users.

On the other side, users now have access to a level of model access previously only offered to enterprise or power users for an annual fee. As a mobile carrier add-on, it becomes a rare opportunity for the lay user to try an advanced model.

Technical context: Gemini 3

Google Gemini 2.5 and earlier iterations have provided the foundation; with Gemini 3, Google claims this is the most capable version yet. In particular, the new model shows advanced abilities in multimodal understanding, agentic tasks (tasks which require the AI to plan, reason and act), and offers improved coding and reasoning abilities. As an example, Google says the model scored 37.5% on a “Humanity’s Last Exam” (HLT), a test which tests cross-cutting science, maths and humanities reasoning capabilities.

Embedding the model into Jio’s user base could help the company further its bet that everyday users will be able to take to advanced AI features for learning, productivity and general exploration.

What to do, if you’re a Jio subscriber?

  • Jio users with an active unlimited 5G plan:
  • Open MyJio app (download if necessary).
  • Tap on the “Early access / Claim Now” banner.
  • Tap “Agree” to enable the offer.
  • Open Gemini app to verify Pro access is active.

The larger picture

AI models, whether consumer-facing, B2B2X or B2B2C are traditionally launched in channels like cloud-services, developer platforms, or enterprise subscriptions, with very few direct-to-consumer models (Alibaba’s Alpack or services like Claude 2, for example).

In that sense, the Jio-Gemini bundle represents a direct-to-user, consumer-facing distribution channel. How users engage with the new offer, which features are most popular and whether other carriers in India(BHARAT) follow Jio’s lead will be worth monitoring.
