NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan to be India’s next Vice President as 15 votes termed invalid

New Delhi: CP Radhakrishnan of the NDA has been declared the new Vice-President of India(BHARAT).

The announcement was made by PC Mody, the Secretary-General of the Rajya Sabha, as he also shared the voting breakup.

PC Mody said, “NDA nominee and Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan got 452 first preference votes. He has been elected as the Vice President of India(BHARAT). Opposition’s vice-presidential candidate Justice Sudershan Reddy secured 300 first preference votes.”

Voting trend: Out of 781 MPs, 767 MPs cast their votes, which is about 98.2 per cent of the total. Out of these 781 votes, 752 votes were held as valid and 15 were termed invalid.

The quota or halfway mark was 377.

Thus, the victory margin was of 152 votes.
