Sushila Karki addressed the nation for the first time on Sunday, 14 September 2025, along with taking charge as interim PM. She said that the power of Nepal has come into her hands at such a time that instead of being happy about it, she will consider it a big responsibility and complete it with everyone’s cooperation. Referring to the violent protests that lasted for two days in the country, she said that the country has suffered a lot.

Her decision for Gen Z agitators

During her national address, Sushila Karki made such a decision for the Gen Z agitators that they will cheer them up. She said that all the youth killed in this movement will be officially declared martyrs.

Karki said that her government will provide financial assistance to the families of the youth killed, and the injured will also be given assistance. Karki said, “I deeply feel the grief of those families who have lost their school or college-going children. The families of these martyrs will be assisted with 10 lakh Nepalese rupees.”

Medical treatment to be provided for protesters and policemen

According to the report of Kathmandu Post, the government has announced medical treatment for 134 injured protesters and 57 injured policemen. According to the report of The Himalayan Times, ministries have been instructed to prepare a report giving detailed details of the damage caused during the protests. According to local media reports, 72 people have lost their lives in the protests in Nepal, including 59 protesters, 10 prisoners and three police officers.
