Bihar update: In a significant political development from Bihar after NDA secured a two-third majority in the state assembly elections, JD(U) veteran Nitish Kumar will take oath as Bihar Chief Minister at 11:30 AM on November 20. As per media reports, Nitish Kumar was elected as the leader of the NDA legislature party today and he has now staked claim to form the new government in Bihar.

Kumar will take oath as the chief minister for a record 10th time at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday. As per media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah are also expected to be present at the function planned at Gandhi Maidan, Patna.

Nitish Kumar tenders his resignation

Soon after his election as leader of the NDA in Bihar, Kumar along with other senior leaders of the alliance partners went to meet Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, to tender his resignation as the head of the outgoing government.

The JD(U) chief is also expected to submit a letter of support from all NDA constituents to the governor for the formation of the new government. Kumar was accompanied by Union minister Chirag Paswan, RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha and Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya when he went to meet the governor.
