Padma Awards 2025 announced; Former CJI Khehar, Ram Mandir architect Chandrakant Sompura, late Sharda Sinha among awardees

New Delhi: The extremely prestigious Padma Awards were announced on Saturday, 25 January 2025, on the eve of the Republic Day. The list of recipients has also been launched. President of India Droupadi Murmu accepted a full of 139 Padma awards, in conjunction with seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri.

High Minister Narendra Modi congratulated all Padma awardees and talked about India is proud to honour and celebrate their unheard of achievements.

Padma Awards, one amongst one of the best civilian awards of the nation, are conferred in three classes, particularly, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Awards are given in diversified disciplines/ fields of activities, viz.- art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and trade, medicine, literature and education, sports activities, civil provider, and plenty others.

‘Padma Vibhushan’ is awarded for distinctive and notorious provider; ‘Padma Bhushan’ for notorious provider of high express and ‘Padma Shri’ for notorious provider in any self-discipline. The awards are announced on the event of Republic Day yearly.

These Awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan typically spherical March/ April yearly.

For the 365 days 2025, the President has accepted conferment of 139 Padma Awards in conjunction with 1 duo case (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one) as per list under.

The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards. 23 of the awardees are women folks and the list also entails 10 persons from the class of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 13 Posthumous awardees.
