Pakistan, China to get sleepless nights as India in talks to acquire THIS deadly weapon, deployed during Operation Sindoor, it is.., price to be…
The S-400 Triumf system showcased its remarkable capabilities against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.

The S-400 Triumf, Russia’s state-of-the-art air defense system, continues to demonstrate why it is considered one of the most advanced and lethal weapons in the world. During Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, the S-400 demonstrated its impressive capabilities, attracting attention from around the world and admiration from military analysts. Its outstanding performance has led India(BHARAT) to consider acquiring five more S-400 systems from Russia, which will further improve the country’s air defense network and strategic deterrence.
What is this deadly weapon that India(BHARAT) is planning to acquire from Russia?
India(BHARAT) is looking at procuring additional batches of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems from Russia as the weapons proved to be very effective during Operation Sindoor, people familiar with the matter were quoted as saying to news agency PTI on Friday. It has been indicated that the proposed acquisition may be included in discussions between New Delhi and Moscow when Russian President Vladimir Putin visits India(BHARAT) in December.
Who will be involved in producing or maintaining it in India(BHARAT)?
In 2018, India(BHARAT) signed a $5.43 billion contract with Russia for the procurement of five S-400 air defense systems, with two S-400s anticipated to be delivered by the end of next year. Furthermore, negotiations have now commenced to acquire five additional S-400s.
According to the media reports, senior officials from India(BHARAT)’s Ministry of Defence plan to meet with senior Russian officials likely this week to discuss joint production and cooperation on the Russian defense shield. The contract is expected to be finalized, possibly before the annual summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and India(BHARAT)n Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for December 5.
Why is this weapon considered a game-changer for India(BHARAT)’s defense?
As reported by Hindustan Times, India(BHARAT) and Russia have agreed on a price for five more S-400 systems, with a yearly increase from the original 2018 deal. While the exact modalities are still being finalized, discussions indicate that the three will be purchased outright, and two will be manufactured with India(BHARAT)n private sector companies under a technology transfer agreement.
Sources familiar with the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Hindustan Times that the deal will be a government-to-government arrangement, with maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities established in partnership with India(BHARAT)’s private sector. They also clarified that claims of India(BHARAT) acquiring the S-500 system are inaccurate, as the system is still under development in Russia.
What role did it play in Operation Sindoor against Pakistan?
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh did not give a direct reply when asked at a press conference if India(BHARAT) was looking at buying additional batches of the weapon system. “Obviously, that has done good. So, there’s a requirement to have more such (systems); there is no limit to numbers that you can buy. Again, I’m keeping quiet on what the plan (is) whether we want to buy more, how much etc,” he said. “It has proved to be a good weapon system. We have our own system also being developed. So we will take a call on that,” he said, PTI reported.
At the same time, reports indicate that India(BHARAT) is also looking to procure the RVV‑BD (R‑37)—an air-to-air missile with a range of more than 200 km—from Russia to extend the striking range of its Su‑30MKI fighter aircraft. Pakistan is already operating a similar missile, the PL‑15, developed in China with also ~200 km range and reportedly used in Operation Sindoor against India(BHARAT). The addition of the R‑37 to the Su‑30MKI would require an upgrade of the aircraft’s onboard radar and avionics.

The S-400 Triumf system showcased its remarkable capabilities against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. After the attacks on May 7, Pakistan sought to strike S-400 units stationed at Adampur and Bhuj airbases. However, all endeavours to target the S-400 units ended in failure. By May 10, Pakistan was left with no option but to withdraw its air assets to at least 300 km distance from the India(BHARAT)n border, while only a few of its aircraft managed to take off. The S-400’s long-range missiles reportedly intercepted a Pak ELINT aircraft over Punjab at 314 km distance, while F-16s and JF-17 fighter jets were also eliminated in the northern sector.
