Pakistan in BIG trouble after Qatar alters its statement on ceasefire with Afghanistan, Taliban Defence Minister issues statement, says…

New Delhi: In a major development, Pakistan and Afghanistan have reached an agreement after several days of violent clashes between both countries. The defense ministers of Pakistan and Afghanistan met in Doha on Sunday with the mediation from Qatar and Turkey. Qatar issued a statement following the meeting, saying that during the talks, both sides agreed to halt hostilities. It also mentioned that both parties agreed to hold further meetings in the coming days. However, Qatar delivered a major setback by amending its earlier statement regarding the announcement before Pakistan could properly celebrate the ceasefire.

It is important to note that Qatar has removed the mention of the imaginary Durand Line — which separates Afghanistan and Pakistan — from its statement about the ceasefire. According to a report by TOLO News, in its initial statement on the Kabul-Islamabad truce agreement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry had referred to the Durand Line as a border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. This sparked widespread backlash in Afghanistan.

Qatar’s official statement:

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has removed the reference to the Durand Line from its official statement on the ceasefire agreement between Kabul and Islamabad. The Qatari Foreign Ministry’s website no longer mentions the Durand Line. In a post on social media, former US Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, revealed that Qatar has revised its earlier statement regarding the ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

What did the Taliban Defence Minister say?

Afghanistan’s Defence Minister, Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid, has said that there was no discussion on the Durand Line during the talks in Doha. Speaking at an online press conference from Doha, he emphasized that the so-called Durand Line was not discussed in any part of the agreement. He added that this issue is a matter between the two countries. The Defence Minister further said that if Pakistan launches any attack, Afghanistan will respond in kind.
