Pakistan to deploy troops in Gaza near Israeli border? Pak minister says won’t accept Trump’s Gaza peace plan if…

Trump Gaza Peace Plan: Pakistan, which has expressed support for US President Doland Trump’s Gaza peace plan, has hinted it would be willing to deploy its troops along the Israel-Gaza border as part of a peacekeeping force of Muslim nations in the Palestinian city under Trump’s peace proposal.

Will Pakistan deploy troops in Gaza?

Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar claimed that the Trump administration has made changes to the Gaza peace plan upon Islamabad’s request, and asserted that eight Muslim countries, who have presented joint proposals, will not accept Trump’s plan if their proposals are not accepted.

Addressing a presser on Wednesday, Ishaq Dar, who also serves as Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, stated that his country was willing to send troops to Gaza as part of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) under the Trump Gaza peace plan, and Pakistan’s top leadership would take a decision in the matter.

The Pakistani foreign minister also spoke about efforts to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza, including a preparatory meeting of leaders of eight Muslim countries with President Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York last week, adding that these Muslim nations, including Pakistan and Indonesia, are willing to send their troops to Gaza as part of the ISF.

“The idea is to have an independent Palestinian government in Gaza that will be overseen by an international monitoring body, which will also be largely Palestinian…” Dar said, adding that Palestinian law enforcement agencies will be present on the ground, supported by forces of other Muslim countries.

“Indonesia has offered 20,000 troops for the purpose. I am sure the Pakistani leadership will also take a decision on this soon.”

Asked about his meeting with President Trump, Dar said the discussion focused on bringing about a ceasefire in Gaza, arranging delivery of humanitarian aid, stopping forced displacement of Palestinians, and arranging the return of displaced Gazans to the Gaza Strip.

The announcement by Trump and Netanyahu has raised eyebrows in many countries, raising questions about what will happen to a separate Palestinian state. Netanyahu has stated that he will not allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

What is Trump’s Gaza peace plan?

During a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, US President Doland Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the Israel-Gaza war, under which Gaza Strip is to be temporarily governed by a Palestinian technocratic government, with no role for Hamas, and Israel will not annex Gaza, Al Jazeera reported.

The plan mandates Hamas to release all Israeli hostages and return the mortal remains of 20 dead hostages. Adam Boehler, the US presidential envoy for captive affairs, has asked Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal to accept the 20-point plan put forward by Trump, describing it as a deal where “everyone wins,”

However, hours after the peace plan was announced, Netanyahu declared that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not withdraw from Gaza, and Tel Aviv would not recognize Palestinian statehood under any condition.
