Pamela Singh Bhutoria opens about her work in Trial 2, sharing screen space with Kajol and more. Read inside.

Some artists quietly make their mark not through noise, but through consistency and authenticity. Pamela Singh Bhutoria is one such name. An actress, model, and anchor, she has impressed audiences across both Bengali and Hindi cinema with her charm and depth. From Kahaani to Gangster 3, Pamela has proved that talent and grace go hand in hand. Now, she’s back in the spotlight with The Trial Season 2 alongside Kajol, where she plays the strong and stylish Chitrangada.
In an exclusive conversation with India(BHARAT).com, Pamela opened up about her admiration for Kajol, her new character, and the journey that shaped her as an artist.
On Working with Kajol
Talking about her co-star Kajol, Pamela said, “It was beautiful working with her. Kajol is not just an actress to us; to be very honest, she is Simran from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. We grew up watching her, and she has inspired India(BHARAT)n women from a very young age.”
Pamela added, “On set, there were expectations. How will she be? Will she be nice? She was super nice. She’s kind, she’s warm, she keeps everybody entertained, and she laughs a lot, which is the most beautiful part about her.”
Kajol and the Change in Beauty Standards
Reflecting on Kajol’s influence, Pamela said something that every ’90s movie lover would agree with: “From a time when beauty was categorically very typical, there were certain kinds of faces considered beautiful. Kajol broke that in the 90s. She’s been ahead of her time. Her acting skills, her personality, her films, everything set her apart.”
Pamela believes Kajol changed how India(BHARAT)n women looked at themselves, confident, real, and unfiltered. Her individuality, Pamela says, inspired countless women to embrace their own kind of beauty.
Her Role as Chitrangada in The Trial 2
Talking about her character, Pamela shared, “Chitrangada is confident, beautiful, enterprising, and successful. She’s in love with a man, but it’s a situationship because he doesn’t want to commit to something that happens a lot in today’s world.”
Looking Back at Kahaani and Beyond
Recalling her early days, Pamela said, “When I walked on the Kahaani set, I was nervous. But Vidya Balan and Sujoy Ghosh made everything simple. Vidya is intelligent, graceful, and supportive; working with her was life-changing.”
Pamela, who is also an accomplished emcee and host, believes her anchoring career helped her stay grounded and confident. She concluded by sharing her excitement for her upcoming project, Brown, with Karisma Kapoor, directed by Vinay Deo.
Pamela’s journey reflects her conviction that true beauty, like true success, stems from being authentic, fearless, and unapologetically oneself.
