New Delhi: The Prime Minister of India(BHARAT), Narendra Modi, met the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, on Thursday, i.e., October 9, in Mumbai. This marks Starmer’s first official visit to India(BHARAT). Before addressing the meeting, the two shared a warm handshake and had talks on matters of bilateral relations, trade, security, technology, Gaza, and the Ukraine war. The meeting hints at India(BHARAT)’s healthy partnership with the United Kingdom. Starmer met the top business leaders of India(BHARAT) and even visited Yash Raj Films Studios. The meeting comes after India(BHARAT) and the UK signed a Free Trade Agreement in July this year, and was followed by a joint press conference.

What did PM say in the press conference?

After the meeting with Keir Starmer, PM Modi addressed a joint press conference and said that the partnership between the two nations is based on trust, talent, and technology. Adding to this, he mentioned, “India(BHARAT)’s dynamism and the UK’s expertise combine to create a unique synergy.

On the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) signed during his London visit, he said that it will lower the costs of imports, give more job opportunities, and increase bilateral trade. Highlighting the discussions on Indo-Pacific and the geopolitical side in the meeting, he said that they also talked about peace in the western part of Asia, along with India(BHARAT)’s action to bring peace in conflicts like Ukraine and Gaza, with the need for dialogue and diplomacy.

What did the UK PM Starmer say?

Keir Starmer said that three big productions will be shot from the year 2026 by Yash Raj Films in the United Kingdom. He even lit lamps (diyas) as Diwali is about to commence and met powerful business leaders.
