Prabhas Joins with Akshay and Vishnu For Kannappa
Vishnu Manchu took to his Instagram to announce that Prabhas has begun filming for “Kannappa.” The post included a new movie poster featuring a close-up of Prabhas in costume, but instead of his face, it focused on his leg. Manchu captioned the photo with a friendly message, calling Prabhas “My brother joined the shoot (sic).”
Actor Prabhas is reportedly taking on a mythological role in the upcoming fantasy drama “Kannappa,” directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh. The film centers around the story of Kannappa, a legendary devotee of Lord Shiva, and Prabhas is said to be portraying a significant character from Hindu mythology.
This upcoming film aims to reach audiences across India (“pan-Indian”). The story centers on a legendary figure revered in Hindu folklore, particularly by Tamils. The character is also deeply connected to the Srikalahasteeswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh. The film is being shot in Telugu first, but will be dubbed and released in several other languages, including Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, and English.

This grand-scale movie began filming in New Zealand on September 25th, 2023. The cast brings together a powerhouse of Indian actors, including Preity Zinta, R. Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Madhoo, Devaraj, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Mukesh Rishi, Rahul Madhav, and many more. While Prabhas takes on a lead role, fans can also expect special appearances by Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Malayalam cinema legend Mohanlal.

Prabhas is ready to dominate the silver screen with the release of his much-awaited sci-fi film, Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Aswin, the movie hits theaters on June 27, 2024, boasting a star-studded cast including Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani.
Drawing inspiration from Hindu mythology, Kalki 2898 AD casts Prabhas as Bhairava, an embodiment associated with Lord Vishnu’s final avatar, Kalki. The film blends futuristic themes with mythological elements, with rumors swirling that Mahesh Babu lends his voice for the role of Vishnu. Prabhas’s busy schedule doesn’t stop there. He’s also slated to star in director Maruti’s The Raja Saab, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit, and reprise his lead role in the sequel, Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam.
