This is Putin’s first visit to India(BHARAT) in four years, and is taking place at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit will focus on strengthening defense cooperation between the two countries, protecting trade from external pressures, and expanding partnerships in small modular reactors. Major announcements and agreements are expected to be signed following the talks, followed by a joint media statement. Several important deals are expected to be signed between India(BHARAT) and Russia.

According to media reports, several important agreements are also expected between the two countries during Putin’s visit to India(BHARAT).

Su-57 fighter jets: India(BHARAT) is preparing to purchase the Su-57, a fifth-generation fighter jet. These aircraft could be initially purchased from Russia and later manufactured in India(BHARAT) at a factory (HAL Nashik).

Su-30 Upgrades: Russia and India(BHARAT) may discuss modernizing the Su-30 aircraft. India(BHARAT) wants to expedite the supply of essential parts.

S-500 missile system: India(BHARAT) may consider purchasing the new S-500 air defense system from Russia. It is capable of intercepting hypersonic missiles and fast targets and has a longer range than the S-400.
New consignment of S-400: India(BHARAT) is considering buying a new consignment of S-400 missile defence system from Russia.

Strengthening Defense Ties: Prime Minister Modi and President Putin will review ways to further expand India(BHARAT)-Russia defense cooperation. The Ukraine war may also be discussed.

Increasing trade: Russia wants trade with India(BHARAT) to reach $100 billion in the next 5 years.

Trade in local currencies: Both countries could consider trading in their local currencies instead of the dollar. This would mitigate the impact of US sanctions.

India(BHARAT)n Exports to Russia: Russia wants to buy more food, seafood, digital services and pharmaceuticals from India(BHARAT).

Russian oil purchases: The purchase of oil from Russia will also be discussed, with the heads of Russian oil companies attending the meeting.
