Rishabh Pant Gets Special Acknowledgement From Legendary Sir Vivian Richards – WATCH VIDEO

New Delhi: Rishabh Pant had the moment of his life when West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards acknowledged the Indian wicketkeeper for his incredible comeback to the cricket field following a horrific car accident in December 2022. Richards was the centre of attraction in the Indian dressing room when the 72-year-old came to give away the medal for the Best Fielder in their game against Bangladesh in the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

After presenting the medal to Suryakumar Yadav, Richards was requested to say a few words for the Indian players. The winner of two ODI World Cups, Richards started by praising the Men in Blue for their show so far in the tournament before turning his attention towards Pant.

“Panty, It’s great to see you back man…What you would have been through, we would have missed that. Great talent and exactly what you have to offer in the future,” said Richards.

India are sitting on top of their group with 4 points from two games with a healthy +2.425 net run rate. They will next take on Australia in their final Super Eights clash. Pant met with a near-fatal accident on the wee hours of December 30 in 2022 and sustained several inquiries.

He made a remarkable return to cricket after 14 months in the Indian Premier League in March and April. He led Delhi Capitals while playing the full season and produced a superlative show with the bat, prompting the Indian selectors to take him to the T20 World Cup 2024 stage.

Richards also went on to laud the Indian team. “What can I say to a team that is so already powerful? Man, you know you have a good thing going here. And I can only say this, if the guys in maroon don’t get it done, son, I’ll be backing you. Is that OK? That’s not unreasonable enough as a Caribbean person?

“But really good to see what you guys have here. Just great to see you guys man, and the way you’re playing your cricket man, Love it, enjoying it,” added Richards.
