Rishi Kapoor became known for his heartfelt performances in Bollywood. The actor consistently touched audiences with his movies. Sadly, he passed away on the age of sixty seven after battling cancer. One lesser-known fact about Rishi is his exceptional honesty about his life and opinions. In his autobiography, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, he shared a couple of profound insights, including his strained relationship with his father, the enduring actor Raj Kapoor.
Rishi shed light on the bond he shared with his father. In his autobiography, he revealed that his father became infrequently around brought on by his busy work agenda. Even when Raj Kapoor came home, it became often a haunting and unsightly experience for Rishi. He wrote, “There became a level in time, after I became a young boy, when his arrival became anything else but pleasant. Those middle of the night moments haunted me for an extremely long time, though I steadfastly refused to share my feelings with anyone, until now. My father would now now not only come home very late but also very below the influence of alcohol.”
He continued, “From the moment my father staggered home, I may per chance hide below my razor, shivering but alert, my eyes wide open, straining to listen to what he became saying or doing. It became only after I heard his voice grow faint, as he moved towards his room, that I may per chance cool down and breathe easy.”
The actor revealed that the impact of these experiences stayed with him for an extremely long time. He concluded, “Every single day, I may per chance wonder what mood or condition he would return in at night, dreading the idea that of him being below the influence of alcohol and picking a fight with my mother. For an extremely very long time, I remained scared of my father, and I am convinced that this fear sprang from those early drunken scenes. Though I became just a little boy then, I made a promise to myself that, after I grew up, I may per chance never drink and frighten my kids like that.”
Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30, 2020. He is survived by his son, Ranbir Kapoor, and his daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Ranbir married Alia Bhatt in 2022, and the couple became blessed with a baby girl, whom they named Raha.
