Rohit Sharma SMARTLY Defends Virat Kohli’s Poor Run Ahead of India vs South Africa T20 WC 2024 FINAL

Guyana: Virat Kohli’s poor run of form in the T20 World Cup 2024 continued as he could only register nine off nine balls. Kohli never looked settled in the middle and eventually it seemed like he threw his wicket. Kohli was clean bowled by Reece Topley. Following the 68-run win against England in Guyana on Thursday, Rohit Sharma was asked about Kohli’s form at the post-match presentation. Hailing Kohli as a quality player, Rohit said Kohli would fire in the final.

“He’s a quality player. Any player can go through that. We do understand his class and his importance in all these big games. Form is never a problem because when you’ve played cricket for 15 years, it isn’t a problem. He is looking good, the intent is there. He’s probably saving for the finals,” Rohit told Michael Atherton in the post-match interview.

Batting first, India rode on knocks from Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav to post 171/7 in 20 overs. In reply, England succumbed to the spin-twins of Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel as the duo shared six wickets between them. In the end, England were all out for 103 in 16.4 overs.

“You got to play good cricket and that’s what we want to do in the final as well. We’ll try our best, that’s all I can say. The team is in good shape, they are playing well. All I can hope is to put up another good show come the finals,” Rohit said.

The India versus South Africa game takes place in Barbados on Saturday.
