Sanjiv Goenka-KL Rahul Controversy: Mohammed Shami SLAMS LSG Owner Over Outburst on Captain During IPL 2024 Match

Hyderabad: A couple of days after the Sanjiv Goenka-KL Rahul rift, India cricketer Mohammed Shami has broken silence and given his two cents on the snowballing controversy. Ugly scenes played out at the Uppal stadium on Wednesday when the Sunrisers locked horns with the Super Giants. Shami, who is part a part of IPL 2024, was in the Gujarat Titans squad last year.

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Shami explained about how Goenka violated Rahul’s respect, stating that it was a “shame.”

“Players have respect, and you are a respectful person, too, as you are an owner. Many people are watching you and learning from you. If these things happen in front of cameras… ye sharam ki baat hai. it’s a matter of shame,” Shami said.

“If you have to do that, there are many different ways. You could’ve done the same thing in the dressing room or the hotel. It wasn’t necessary to do it on the field. Aise reaction dekar laal qile pe jhanda toh gaada nahi hai aapne (It isn’t as if you hoisted a flag at Red Fort by doing this),” said the India star further.

Following the defeat, Rahul seemed to be at a ‘loss for words’ and he claimed it as well, labelling the SRH batting as ‘unreal’.

“Am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on tv. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn’t give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one,” Rahul said at the post-match presentation following the 10-wicket defeat.

Earlier, Travis Head hammered 30 balls 89 and Abhishek Sharma slammed 75 off 38 as Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed Lucknow Super Giants by ten wickets and chased down the target of 166 runs in just 9.4 overs.

The Super Giants are still alive in the playoff race, but yes, the equation is extremely stiff.
