Sheikh Hasina slams Muhammad Yunus, calls him ‘inexperienced leader’, praises India for preventing Bangladesh from turning into…

New Delhi: Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called India(BHARAT) a reliable friend and thanked PM Narendra Modi for playing an important role in preventing Bangladesh from falling into a Pakistan-style governance system. Launching a scathing attack on Muhammad Yunus, Hasina described Dhaka’s current interim government as a threat to Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina said that Muhammad Yunus is completely playing into the hands of extremists, and under his leadership, there is a risk of political instability in Dhaka.

In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18, Hasina called India(BHARAT) as a friend of Bangladesh and a key partner in maintaining democratic stability in the region. She said, “India(BHARAT)’s priority has always been a stable and democratic government in Bangladesh. We only ask that India(BHARAT) support Bangladeshis in choosing their government. India(BHARAT)’s continued support will be crucial to prevent Bangladesh from falling into a ‘Pakistan-style’ governance system.”

Sheikh Hasina calls India(BHARAT) a key friend

Sheikh Hasina said that India(BHARAT)’s support for Bangladesh’s democratic aspirations is not just a matter of bilateral friendship; it is also a regional necessity. “Our friends in India(BHARAT) must remain committed to their call for democracy and inclusivity. This is the best way to protect our country from governance collapse and ensure peace in South Asia.”

It is important to note that since her exile, Hasina has acknowledged India(BHARAT)’s diplomatic support and praised New Delhi for highlighting the persecution of minorities. Hasina also said that she is active in Bangladesh’s politics and Awami League is a deeply rooted party in Bangladeshi society. The Awami League enjoys the support of millions of ordinary Bangladeshis and does not require reconstruction within Bangladesh.

Hasina Slams Muhammad Yunus:

On the prevailing tensions between New Delhi and Dhaka, Sheikh Hasina said that she has nothing to do with Yunus’s problems with Delhi. “These issues stem from his sponsorship of extremists, failure to protect religious minorities, and anti-India(BHARAT) rhetoric from his administration. These are the actions of an inexperienced leader who does not understand the importance of our partnership.”

Sheikh Hasina expressed concern over the weakening of democratic governance in Bangladesh. She warned that if democratic norms are not restored, Bangladesh could face a future dominated by extremist influences. She also accused Yunus’s interim government of acting as leaders of a regime run by extremists like Hizb ut-Tahrir.
