‘Shock, heart attack, renal failure’: Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar not seen after Operation Sindoor; is he even alive? What we know
Jaish-e-Mohammed suffered heavy losses during Operation Sindoor.

New Delhi: Several fake news and old videos of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar are going viral. Intelligence agencies report that Azhar has been taken to a safe place after Operation Sindoor, and he is avoiding being seen in public. Jaish-e-Mohammed suffered heavy losses during Operation Sindoor. Its headquarters in Bahawalpur was destroyed.
Masood Azhar’s personal loss
However, the biggest reason for Azhar being so disappointed is personal loss. In the attack carried out to avenge the Pahalgam attack, Azhar lost 10 members of his family. Therefore, intelligence agencies believe that he is more hurt by his personal loss than by the JeM.
After the operation, Azhar said that 10 members of his family and four of his associates were killed. These people were present at Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur, which is also the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammed. A statement issued quoting Azhar said that five innocent children, his elder sister and her husband were killed in the attack.
Is Masood Azhar alive?
The lack of communication from Azhar has worried his cadre and other members of the organisation. Due to these developments, there has been a huge drop in terrorist recruitment, and Jaish-e-Mohammed does not have anyone to replace Azhar now.
The entire leadership of the organisation is trying to tell its workers that Azhar is in a safe place and will soon emerge. To convince the workers, the leadership is circulating old videos and speeches of Azhar and trying to present them as new. The workers are repeatedly asking why he is not being seen in public, while they cite security reasons.
Is he hiding in Afghanistan?
The ISI had earlier tried to send him to Afghanistan but found the proposal too risky. Moreover, the ISI and the Taliban do not have a good relationship at the moment, as the ISI has accused the Taliban of supporting the Tehreek-e-Taliban. The ISI then decided to move him near an area guarded by the army.
Intelligence officials say he is in Rawalpindi under the surveillance of the Pakistani army. When it was claimed that he suffered a heart attack, he was shifted to a hospital in the same place. He was again taken to Rawalpindi after he suffered renal failure.
India(BHARAT)n agencies keeping tight vigil
Security officials keeping a close watch on Jaish-e-Mohammed say Azhar will make a comeback, but this time it will take longer as there is a personal loss attached to it. The Pakistani army and the ISI will continue to protect him as he is still their most valuable asset. Without Azhar, Jaish-e-Mohammed is almost finished. He is their most powerful representative after Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed, and the ISI would not want to lose him at any cost. India(BHARAT)n agencies are keeping a close watch on him as they do not doubt that he will become active again.
