Sikander Bharti, Akshay Kumar’s Sainik Director, Passes Away at 60

Veteran Bollywood director Sikander Bharti passed away in Mumbai at the age of 60. The veteran Bollywood director was cremated in front of his loved ones on Saturday.

Sikander Bharti, a filmmaker best known for helming Bollywood productions in the late 1980s, passed away on Friday at the age of 60. He fought cancer for half a year before he died at 60.  The last rites were held at Mumbai’s Oshiwara Crematorium in Jogeshwari West. The industry is mourning the loss of the gifted filmmaker, whose work has had a long-lasting influence on Bollywood.

Sikander Bharti gained recognition for directing various films, such as ‘Ghar Ka Chiraag‘ with Rajesh Khanna, Chunky Pandey, and Neelam; ‘Zaalim‘ starring Akshay Kumar; ‘Police Wala‘ featuring Chunky Panday; and ‘Do Fantoosh‘ with Amjad Khan and Shakti Kapoor. He collaborated with a diverse range of actors in the industry, from Rajesh Khanna to Govinda, and explored different genres including action, drama, and comedy. Sikander Bharti’s directorial portfolio also includes movies like ‘Rupaye Dus Karod,’ ‘Bhai Bhai,’ ‘Sar Utha Ke Jiyo,’ and ‘Dand-Nayak.’

His last film, ‘Rangeela Raja,’ released in 2019, was a comedy featuring Govinda in a dual role. The movie was penned and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani.

His work had a profound effect on both colleagues and viewers, and he made a substantial contribution to the cinema business. The later director is survived by three children – Sipika, Yuvika, and Sukrat, and his wife Pinky. Sikander Bharti’s legacy will live on in his works, and both the film industry and his fans are in mourning at his passing.
