Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile: In a significant development for the India(BHARAT)n Armed Forces, India(BHARAT) is preparing to test the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) from a ship by year-end. Developed by India(BHARAT)’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile is considered an advanced version of the Nirbhay missile with BrahMos like hitting capabilities. What’s special in Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile?
Considered an advanced version of the Nirbhay missile, the ITCM missile is a cost-effective option compared to expensive systems like BrahMos. DRDO has earlier conducted a successful flight test of Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile (ITCM) in April. The Ministry of Defence informed on Thursday that the test was conducted from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha on April 18, 2024.
How dangerous is India(BHARAT)’s ITCM missile?
The missile is equipped with advanced avionics and software to ensure better and more reliable performance. The flight of the missile was also monitored from the Su-30-Mk-I aircraft of the India(BHARAT)n Air Force.

Who developed the Indigenous Technology Cruise Missile?
The missile is developed by Bengaluru-based DRDO laboratory Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) along with contributions from other laboratories and India(BHARAT)n industries. The test was carried out in the presence of many senior scientists from various DRDO laboratories along with representatives from the production partner.
