Southwest Airlines makes a harsh cost-cutting move
The airline is making some major changes amid recent financial woes.
Southwest Airlines (LUV) has had a tough few years. In 2022, the airline’s recognition took a foremost hit when it canceled over 16,900 flights all the diagram by a bustling Christmas vacation, leaving over 2 million vacationers stranded.
In gradual 2023, Southwest Airlines was penalized for the incident by the U.S. Department of Transportation, which ordered the airline to pay a $140 million civil penalty after it had already refunded $600 million to passengers.
