Sports this weekend: India vs Australia second T20I, European domestic football returns and more

The Cricket World Cup might have got over, but there’s no scarcity when it comes to sporting action across the upcoming weekend, more so cricket itself. Just four days after India’s defeat to Australia in the World Cup final, a new-look Men in Blue led by Suryakumar Yadav took on the Aussies in the first T20I in Vizag on Thursday. India took a 1-0 lead with SKY, Ishan Kishan and Rinku Singh inspiring the hosts to a two-wicket win, but the series has just started and there’s a long way to go.

There’s football action as well, with the European domestic leagues returning after the international break.

The Formula 1 2023 season, meanwhile, reaches its conclusion this season, with Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit hosting the final race.

Let’s now take a look in detail regarding what’s in store for the weekend as far as sporting action is concerned:

Following India’s two-wicket win over Australia in the first T20I in Vizag on Thursday, the caravan next moves to Thiruvananthapuram, where the second T20I will be held on Sunday (26 November). The Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram will host the second of five T20Is, with the match starting at 7 pm IST.

India will look for a more clinical performance against the Aussies. While SKY, Kishan and Rinku Singh did the job for the hosts in the first T20I, Ruturaj Gaikwad failed to get going whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal (21) failed to maintain momentum. A lot of focus will be on that top-order, as well as Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi, both of whom went for 50 runs or more in their four overs.

The 2023 season of the Formula 1 championship enters its final race with the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi hosting it. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has already secured the drivers’ title for a third successive season and the Dutchman will be hungry to sign off the season with another win, having won the last three Abu Dhabi GPs.
