Starbucks store hours for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day 2026

Starbucks has reigned as the most popular coffee chain for decades. It's hard to believe that in 1995 the chain had just 677 stores and a decade later had 10,241. Even more astonishing: At the end of 2025, there are more than 40,990 stores worldwide, according to the company's full fiscal year 2025 report.

While the company has been under pressure in recent years, it's still the dominant coffee chain in the U.S., followed by Dunkin', which just celebrated the opening of its 10,000th store.

Starbucks' footprint — with 16,864 stores in the U.S. alone — means there's a good chance there's a Starbucks, or two, very close to where you live.

So if Starbucks is where you get your caffeine fix, you want to know: Is Starbucks open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day?

Starbucks hours: New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

Starbucks will operate on a reduced schedule for New Year's Eve (Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025). Most stores will open at their usual time, but close earlier, around 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. local time.

On New Year's Day (Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026), most standalone Starbucks will be open, although they may close early.

Still, hours can vary widely, especially at malls, grocery stores, or inside Target locations, which follow their host’s closing times. Airport and hotel Starbucks often have the longest holiday schedules, catering to travelers late into the evening.

Because there’s no universal, corporation-wide New Year's Eve or New Year's Day schedule, Starbucks does not guarantee all locations will be open or closed on December 31, 2025 and Jan. 1, 2026 so be sure to check the hours for your favorite location before you head out.

Starbucks hours are set location by location — meaning neighborhood cafés could be closed, while a busy airport store stays open.

Licensed locations — e.g., stores inside airports, hotels, resorts, and travel hubs — may remain open for their normal hours.  Licensed location schedules are typically driven by passenger or guest expectations rather than corporate retail hours.
