Starlink DOWN: World’s richest man, Elon Musk-owned satellite internet service company – Starlink – on Monday (local time) suffered a major outage. Thousands of users reported that they were unable to use the services, according to DownDetector, a platform that tracks such outages based on users’ reports. Over 45,000 users, at the time of filing the story, from different parts of the United States reported facing an outage with Starlink.

Users from several American states like – Arizona, Utah, New Jersey and Nevada, etc, reported huge outage. DownDetector reported that 60 percent of the users said that they are not able to use Starlink broadband, while 40% said they faced a total blackout.

Did Starlink’s Respond To The Outage?

Starlink promptly responded to the outage and said on its website, “Starlink is currently experiencing a service outage. Our team is investigating.” However, the company did not provide further details or the reasons for the outage.

Starlink, operated by SpaceX, which is led by Elon Musk, provides internet services via a constellation of satellites positioned in low Earth orbit. It is commonly utilized in isolated areas and regions affected by conflict globally.

What Has Downdetector Said?

As per Downdetector, America has been the worst-affected country by the outage. The disruption reportedly started at around 10:09 am IST (12:58 AM EDT). Around 60 per cent of users from different parts of US experienced internet connectivity problems, 40 per cent faced a complete blackout.

Internet users promptly voiced their dissatisfaction with X regarding the Starlink service interruption. Some expressed their disappointment, while others directly mentioned Elon Musk, asking him to resolve the problem.
