Happy Friday. This is TheStreet’s Stock Market Today for Dec. 12, 2025. You can follow the latest updates on the market here in our daily live blog.

Update: 9:41 a.m. ET

Opening Bell

The U.S. markets are now open. The Dow (+0.23%) is continuing yesterday's streak with a modest bump this morning and a new intraday high. Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 (-0.12%), S&P 500(-0.17%), and Nasdaq (-0.47%) are facing declines.

The results from Broadcom (-6%) might be to blame for the tepid feelings today. However, outside of tech, there are signs of movement. The S&P 500 equal weight ETF is up about 0.24% this morning, even as the broader index is down -- a sign that breadth is continuing to show up in the absence of some of these AI-fueled trades.

In commodities land, continuous Gold futures are up 1.35% to $4,371.20. On the flip side, Brent Crude is down 0.28% to $61.13 and Silver futures are down 0.33% to $64.38. Natural gas is also continuing its decline from recent highs, down 2.6% to $4.121.

In yields, the 10Y rose 4.7 bips to 4.188%, its close to its highest showing since September.

A.M. Update

Good morning. If yesterday's trading day was marred by the poor results from hyperscaler Oracle, then maybe the revelations from chipmaker Broadcom will define today. Results from the company settled some of the fears about the AI boom, as it beat on the top and bottom line, but investors still sold.

Perhaps enough just isn't enough -- the results need to be fantastic from AI names, which have commanded premium valuations.

As a result, U.S. stock futures are down this morning, threatening to end to a memorable -- and successful -- week for the markets on a low note. This week has been particularly difficult on one-time bubbly names in tech, but the bright side is that a broader body of equities have stood in.

Earnings + Economic Data Today

Generally, we'd split earnings and economic data/events into two sections, but there's not a whole lot on deck for this Friday. Today, there are no firms worth at least $1 billion reporting. And on the economic front, we'll only be hearing from various members of the Fed and getting refreshed oil rig data from Baker Hughes.
