Everything Happening (That We Know Of)
Good morning. After a rowdy midweek of earnings, surprising commentary from the U.S. central bank, and semblances of a trade deal with China, U.S. futures are markedly higher today as traders seek to bend the will of the market back towards the green.
Helping matters are strong earnings from Amazon (+12.5% in premarket) and Apple (+2.2%), which are making up for some of the misfires from their megacap compatriots; namely Microsoft and Meta. However, outside of megacaps, the wide array of earnings successes have given investors something to get excited about.
A.M. Earnings: Exxon, Abbvie, Chevron
You end the week the way you start it: more morning earnings. This morning, results from Exxon Mobil, Abbvie, and Chevron have already dropped. Here are some of the highlights, per data from TipRanks:

Economic Events & Data
Today marks a month of the government shutdown. That also means that we're a month into a world without government-issued economic data.
In fact, the only real revelations we've had in recent weeks have come from the central bank's surprising commentary after the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, plus the release of the CPI for the Social Security cost of living adjustment.
Rounding out this funky week, Fed Governors Logan, Bostic, and Hammack will deliver remarks today at 9:30 a.m. ET, 12:00 p.m. ET, and 12:00 pm. ET. Chicago PMI will also be out at 9:45 a.m.
