Another film releasing this Diwali was “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat.” The last major Hindi theatrical release was Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor’s “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” which faced stiff competition from the Kannada release “Kantara Chapter 1.”

Thamma Could Not Break the Record of Stree 2

However, “Thamma”‘s opening is far below the previous film in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, “Stree 2,” which opened with Rs 35 crore last year. It also earned less than “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,” which was released last Diwali. The Kartik Aaryan-starrer horror comedy opened with Rs 32 crore despite facing stiff competition from Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer “Singham Again.”
