The world’s tallest building is about to change – and it’s rising fast in THIS country

Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower, which will become the world’s tallest building upon completion, has reached a significant milestone in its construction, with almost 80 floors already built as the skyscraper soars closer to the sky at an accelerated rate. The Kingdom’s tallest building project took a symbolic step forward as it celebrated its new phase having taken almost a decade to break its past records.

The 100 floor skyscraper restarted construction in January 2025 after years of inactivity with approximately a floor being added every 3 to 4 days as of this writing. The project’s heightened construction is a direct result of the Kingdom’s continued efforts to attract new projects and investments, as well as a sign of optimism for the building, which has had its fair share of negative news in recent years. The Jeddah Tower will soar 1,000 metres (3,281 feet) once construction is finished in 2028, beating the Dubai’s Burj Khalifa by a considerable distance.

Standing 828 metres (2,711 feet) tall, Burj Khalifa is the current tallest building on the planet. Jeddah Tower, which will be 172 to 180 metres taller than the Dubai landmark once completed, will be the first structure in the world to reach a height of 1,000 metres. The Burj Khalifa is a landmark structure with an instantly recognizable silhouette that can be seen throughout Dubai and the surrounding area. It stands out from the Dubai skyline, which is filled with skyscrapers.

The Jeddah Tower, on the other hand, is a big part of the Jeddah Economic City project, which is a huge development project on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast that includes the nation’s first coastal toll road. The structure, which will be visible from miles around if finished, is expected to become a significant attraction in its own right, possibly even bigger than Burj Khalifa in Dubai due to its location on the coast of the Red Sea. The development is also a crucial litmus test for Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 economic reform program, a multi-trillion-dollar plan to diversify its economy away from oil. The Kingdom has poured billions of dollars into the skyscraper to make it a reality, spending a large sum to get it back on track after years of delays.

Jeddah Tower is slated to become the world’s tallest building when completed in 2028. There will also be approximately 4,500 hotel rooms in the building, as well as luxury residences and corporate offices. The design will also include a number of retail and entertainment options, as well as a 360-degree observation deck at the top of the structure with a spectacular view of the Red Sea and the city of Jeddah. It is expected to be a mixed-use development that will attract tourists from around the world and local residents looking for a world-class living and business experience. As for when it will be finished, we can only watch and wait with anticipation for further updates.
