Actress Tortured by Husband
This actress is none other than Rati Agnihotri. She made her acting debut in 1979 and became an overnight star with her first film. The follow-up, Ek Duje Ke Liye, further cemented her stardom. After this, Rati began receiving offers for films ranging from Hindi cinema to South India(BHARAT)n cinema.
However, Rati Agnihotri was forced to leave films and acting after the death of her father-in-law, under pressure from her husband. At the peak of her career, Rati married Anil Virwani, a businessman and architect, in 1985.
Although her parents were against their relationship, the actress persisted and began dating Anil. After marriage, she took a break from acting for a few years.
Rati Agnihotri Was Tortured for 3 Decades
After her wedding, Rati was blessed with a son. Though the actress was already going through a rough patch in her marriage, she thought that her son’s arrival would make things right. However, none of that happened, and the actress faced her abusive husband for 30 years.
Later, in 2015, she decided to call off the marriage.
In an interview with E-Times, Rati said, “I thought, ‘I’m a 54-year-old woman, and I’ll slowly grow old and weak, and then one day I’ll be beaten to death.'”
She added, “I had some priorities, the biggest of which was my son Tanuj. It was because of him that I endured all this pain for 30 years. I also believed in the sanctity of marriage. I believed in love. Anil was the man I married, despite the fact that my parents never approved of him. And like every girl, I dreamed of a beautiful life with a husband who would take care of me.”
Rati Agnihotri and her husband separated for two months following this incident. However, in 2015, reports emerged that they had reunited for the sake of their son, Tanuj.
