Interfaith marriages in Bollywood are never considered taboo. There are many famous couples who tied the knot despite different ethnicities. From Saif-Kareena to Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, there are many couples who are leading beautiful lives and embracing each other’s religions. Today, we will discuss an actress who was born in a Muslim family but married a Gujarati man. She then changed her name, and today she is completely unrecognizable.

The actress in discussion is someone who played Shiri in the series Qubool Hai. We are talking about the well-known actress Shabnam Sayed.

Born on August 9, 1979, Shabnam aspired to be an actress from the beginning. This passion drove her to the TV screen. Though Shabnam has been away from the TV screen, when she did serials, audiences mainly saw her in grey shades.

Shabnam married Gujarati businessman Saurabh Vanzara in 2011. The two had been dating for a long time. Their wedding reception was attended by numerous TV celebrities.

After marrying, Shabnam changed her religion and converted to Hinduism. Not just that, she also changed her name, and now she is known as Surabhi Vanzara.

In an interview with TeleChakkar, she said, “Keeping in mind the tradition of changing the daughter-in-law’s name in her in-laws’ house, I decided to change my name to Surabhi Vanzara. Long before we met, my husband’s parents used to joke that they would find a girl named Surabhi for Saurabh.”

After quitting TV, Shabnam, aka Surabhi, started as a stand-up comedian.
