Halal AI: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is quickly becoming a necessity in our daily tasks with chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and more recently xAI’s Grok, becoming increasingly popular in in recent years.

What is HUMAIN Chat?

Developed by Humain IQ, a Saudi Arabia-based AI startup, HUMAIN Chat is a native-Arabic AI chatbot, specifically designed for Arabic speakers. The chatbot has is based on the ALLAM 34B Large Language Model (LLM), which has been trained on over eight petabytes of data, making it the largest Arabic dataset in the world.

HUMAIN Chat can speak in various Arabic dialects, including Egyptian, Gulf and Levantine, and also write in Arabic and English languages.

How capable is Saudi’s ‘Halal AI’?

According to the developers, HUMAIN Chat functions similar to other modern AI chatbots, but special emphasis has been laid on promoting Islamic values and culture, making it unique among its peers. The bot can seamlessly switch between Arabic and English, and answers prompts based on real-time searches.

The chatbot has been released as a standalone app on iOS and Android devices in Saudi Arabia, and as web-based platform across the globe.

Who are the developers?

HUMAIN IQ, the developers of HUMAIN Chat, are a full-stack AI company, funded by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The AI firm said it has ensured that its chatbot is fully compliant with the Kingdom’s data protection laws as the user data will be stored in the country.
