US-China trade war: In a significant geopolitical turn of events possibly taking the US-China trade war to the next level, US President Doland Trump announced he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping within four weeks. It should be noted that the US had earlier raised import duties on Chinese goods by up to 145%, which China countered with tariffs and export restrictions. Here are all the details you need to know about why the Trump-Jinping meeting is very critical.
Why is Trump-Jinping meeting very critical?
First of all, the current US tariffs stand at about 55%. Although negotiations in May slightly eased tensions, leading to reduced tariffs, but no permanent resolution was reached between China and the US. As a result, China stopped buying American soybeans from April, causing major losses for US farmers. Therefore, the proposed meeting between US President Doland Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to get serious talks on the tariffs and soybean trade between the two countries.

What Trump on soybean trade with China?
It should also be noted that Trump had said tariff revenues would be partly redirected to compensate farmers suffering due to China’s boycott. Also, US President Trump assured farmers that soybeans and other crops will be central to talks with Xi and vowed not to let them down, even coining the slogan: “MAKE SOYBEANS, AND OTHER ROW CROPS, GREAT AGAIN!”
“The Soybean Farmers of our Country are being hurt because China is, for ‘negotiating’ reasons only, not buying,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“I’ll be meeting with President Xi, of China, in four weeks, and Soybeans will be a major topic of discussion,” he added.
