New Delhi: In a significant development, US President Doland Trump has announced that the United States would continue its sale of the much-awaited F-35 fighter jets to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by Prince MBS. According to media reports, the deal of the F-35 fighter jet is one of several major agreements likely to be unveiled during the crown prince’s visit to the United States of America. Notably, Saudi Arabia is anticipated to seek formal US security assurances and access to the F-35, which is widely regarded as one of the most advanced fighter aircrafts in the world. Here are all the details you need to know about US’s sale of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia despite internal concerns in Pentagon.

Trump announces sale of F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia

Responding to the question on whether US would continue on its deal of selling the F-35 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, US President Doland Trump said, “I will say that we will be doing that. We’ll be selling F-35s.”

Why Pentagon was not willing to sell F-35 technology to Saudi?

As cited by The New York Times, a new Pentagon intelligence assessment has heightened concerns that China could gain access to sensitive F-35 technology through Saudi Arabia. According to the Defence Intelligence Agency, China’s expanding security partnership with Saudi Arabia, along with possible espionage threats, raises the risk of compromising the aircraft’s advanced systems.

More importantly, Washington is also examining whether the proposed sale could impact Israel’s legally mandated “qualitative military edge” in the region. Notably, Israel remains the only Middle Eastern country operating F-35s and has deployed them in operations in Iran in October 2024 and June 2025.
