Usha Uthup, known for her powerful voice, recently left everyone delighted with her soulful performance at iconic Kolkata restaurant Trincas where she performed Miley Cyrus’ Grammy-winning hit Flowers. The popular singer’s rendition of Miley Cyrus’ Grammy-winning song was captured on a video that has been going viral of late. Following the applause from her fans who are even demanding a collaboration between the two singers, the veteran singer has now expressed her emotions, thanking everyone for the response.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Usha Uthup remarked, “I am so thrilled and grateful to the people for loving my version as well. I just sang the song because my daughter Anjali introduced me to it randomly one day. When I heard it, I just loved the song so much.”


Reacting to the widespread love being showered on her version of the song, Usha said, “I’ve been singing it in all my shows and everybody loves it so much. I was so excited to know that my cover version is being appreciated like this. I didn’t even think that it would come on Instagram. Everybody who has written such marvellous things about my cover, thank you so much! What truly made me happy is that people have actually said that they could relate to the song more because of my voice.”

Moving forward, she heaped praises on Miley for her recent Grammy win for the song Flowers adding that she is waiting for her to listen to the song. The singer also expressed her wish to work with her very soon.

The video of Usha’s performance shared by the users has amassed around four lakh likes within only two days. The popularity of the video and the love garnered by the singer defines Usha’s artistic journey beautifully. It also reflects on her ability to connect with audiences across generations even now.

Meanwhile, Usha Uthup was recently conferred with Padma Bhushan which is the third-highest civilian award in India.
